Sponsor Description: 

Dr. Erik Thostenson is a faculty in the Department of Mechanical Engineering and affiliated to the Center for Composite Materials and the Department of Materials Science and Engineering. Dr. Thostenson heads the Multifunctional Composites Laboratory and his research focuses on the integration of nanostructured materials with conventional composites and textiles to create the next generation of smart materials for structural health monitoring of infrastructure and highly sensitive wearable sensors for human motion analysis. His group’s work is a mixture of fundamental research including processing and characterization of nanomaterials along with specific applications to develop multifunctional material systems and sensors.
