Sponsor Description: 

The Perry Initiative is a non-profit organization dedicated to diversifying the talent pipeline in engineering and medicine, with a particular emphasis on medical device design, biomechanics, and orthopaedic surgery. The organization advances its mission through unique hands-on curriculum and exposure programs, namely: (1) day-long extracurricular programs for women high school students (POP – Perry Outreach Program); (2) hands-on seminars for women medical students (MSOP – Medical Student Outreach Program); and (3) laboratory exercises for coed middle and high school classrooms (OIA – Orthopaedics In Action). Since 2009, The Perry Initiative has enrolled over 19,000 women in POP and MSOP programs, and OIA is now used in nearly 2,000 science classrooms nationwide, reaching 150k students annually.
