217: A multi-axial test frame for in-vitro testing of differential biomechanics in scoliosis
Team Members:
Gabriela Carlisle, Justin Bouyer, Raith Nowak, Imani Carter, Sean Magee
Sponsor: UD Biomedical Engineering: Elliott Lab
Sponsor Description:
The Elliott Lab is a multidisciplinary biomechanics and orthopaedics research group at the University of Delaware in the Department of Biomedical Engineering. The team has strengths in multiphasic mechanics, composite mechanics, biomechanical testing and simulation, in situ strain mapping of dynamically loaded specimens, clinical imaging (MRI, CT, and microCT), histology, and biochemistry. The Elliott Lab is equipped to study nearly any orthopaedic tissue and has primary expertise in the intervertebral disc, meniscus, tendon, and cartilage. In collaboration with orthopaedic surgeons and veterinarians, the Elliott Lab is investigating the growth modulation of the intervertebral disc in scoliosis.
