The Delaware Indoor Ag Lab (DIAL), directed by Prof. Qingwu (William) Meng, focuses on environmental optimization of plant growth relevant to applications in indoor vertical farms, greenhouses, and space exploration. The lab creates advanced growth chambers to improve crop yield (photosynthesis), appearance (morphology and coloration), taste (organoleptic properties), and nutrition (nutrients and phytochemicals) to increase productivity, add value, and conserve resources.
