E3: Engineering Education Ecosystem

Teaching Teamwork (Wed, May 10)

This day-long interactive workshop is designed for all high school STEM and CTE teachers who engage their students in substantive (multi-week or semester-long) team-based projects. The workshop will focus on how to design team-based experiences to ensure that all students advance their technical and durable skills and that they are fairly evaluated for their contributions to the team’s overall performance. The workshop structure will include: (a) a quick overview of evidence from current research on team-based learning; (b) specific tools (e.g., scaffolds, rubrics, and software) that make team-based learning more effective for students and efficient for teachers; and (c) simulated team-based experiences where participants can practice coaching students towards more effective collaboration. Participants will leave the workshop with several classroom-ready tools to use with their students on team-based projects.
