Excellence in graduate education and research requires respectful, productive, professional relationships between faculty advisors and graduate students. The following resources and tools are designed to support those relationships and the graduate student experience in general. They were developed through an initiative undertaken by the College of Engineering working group on graduate student diversity and inclusion (see initiative description).

College of Engineering Expectations

This document describes best practices in graduate student advising, as well as College expectations for the roles of faculty advisors, graduate student advisees, and departments/programs.

Advising Tools

Multiple tools are provided to help set clear expectations for both the advisor and advisee, and assist with clear communication and goal-setting.

Graduate Student Life Handbook

This handbook, written by and for College of Engineering graduate students, contains helpful advice, links to academic resources, and other useful information about graduate life at UD.

Department Handbooks and/or Program Policy Documents

Each department has a document that summarizes the program policies and requirements for that department.
