Stasik to lead undergraduate student services and support academic policy, advising and retention efforts
Tara Stasik, a higher education leader with extensive experience advancing academic and student affairs initiatives, joined the University of Delaware College of Engineering as senior assistant dean for student services on April 27. She succeeds F. Charles “Chuck” Shermeyer, who retired at the end of April.
Stasik brings more than 25 years of experience in higher education leadership, most recently serving as director of academic and student services at Temple University’s University College. There, she oversaw strategic admissions, advising and student engagement strategy while managing complex academic matters. Her previous roles include assistant dean for administration at Bryn Mawr College and associate director at Drexel University College of Medicine, where she coordinated national leadership programs for women in engineering and medicine.
As a member of the dean’s senior staff, Stasik will serve as a key resource for faculty and staff on academic policy and advisement while leading undergraduate student services initiatives. She will draw on her expertise in retention strategies, academic policy and degree auditing systems to support the academic success of the college’s 2,500 undergraduate students.
Shermeyer’s retirement concludes more than 40 years of service to UD, including 17 years with the College of Engineering. Drawing on a background in chemistry education, student counseling and personnel administration, he became a trusted resource to generations of students.
