Welcome to the Hengineer Peer Mentor Program

Connecting Blue Hens for Success, Growth, and Community at the University of Delaware College of Engineering.

For First-Year Engineering Students (Mentees)

Starting your engineering journey at the University of Delaware is an exciting milestone, but transitioning to college naturally comes with questions. The Hengineer Mentoring Program pairs incoming engineering students with experienced peer mentors who have successfully navigated their first year and are ready to help you succeed.

What You Get as a Mentee:

🤝 1-on-1 Guidance: Connect directly with an experienced engineering student who knows the ropes.

💬 Real Advice: Ask questions and get honest insights on managing workloads, studying for exams, and adjusting to college life.

🏫 Campus & Resource Navigation: Discover academic resources, student organizations, and unique opportunities within the College of Engineering.

🌟 Community & Confidence: Build lasting connections, gain confidence, and launch your UD experience with a strong support network.

Participation is 100% free, flexible, and custom-tailored to fit your schedule throughout your transition to UD.

I decided to become a mentor because I remember being very overwhelmed when starting my engineering journey. I know that if I had someone to ask for advice or to point me in the right direction, I would have really appreciated it. I hope to assist my mentee with finding ways to get involved at UD. Whether it be clubs, research, conferences, competitions or projects. UD has a ton of opportunities for engineering students.

Students converse in the FinTech Building

I became a mentor to help other students to have the resources they need to succeed in college. I want to help others to have the best experience possible and to thrive in their academic careers. I also want to be additional support to people who may need it and to help create an inclusive community.
