KRISTI KIICK
Blue and Gold Distinguished Professor Emeritus of Materials Science and Engineering
Kristi Kiick, Blue and Gold Distinguished Professor Emeritus of Materials Science and Engineering, died on Jan. 2, 2026. Dr. Kiick joined the UD faculty in 2001, rising to the rank of professor in 2011 and being named the Blue and Gold Distinguished Professor of Materials Science and Engineering in 2017. An internationally recognized leader in biomaterials research and a fellow of the National Academy of Inventors, she was known for her innovative work on protein, peptide and self-assembled materials with the potential to advance medicine.
